I'll have another ...
Bowl of carrot soup. Nothing beats soup as a winter warmer -- or a sign of traditional kitchen skills and patience. Add carrots and you get high fashion and nutrition. I've had carrot soups from local chefs made with lobster, shrimp or tomatoes and all manner of seasoning, from onions to curry to pumpkin pie spices. Pureed carrots add so much substance, the soups barely need cream.
