A festive day in Pinellas Park
Pinellas Park hops with free festivals this weekend: the Chili Blaze on Friday and Country in the Park on Saturday.
Chili Blaze is sponsored by the Pinellas Park firefighters and includes a chili cookoff, carnival rides, a motorcycle show and display of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s NASCAR car. Proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Tampa Bay Summer Camp for Kids.
An armband entitling you to all-you-can-eat chili is $6. The event runs from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday at the England Brothers Band Shell and Town Square Plaza, 5010 81st Ave. N, Pinellas Park.
Country in the Park fills the same area on Saturday morning with more activities, including free carnival rides, a crafts festival, a fire truck pull, food for purchase and free concerts. Performers include Shenandoah, above, Hank Shaw and the Cactus Creek Band, Briar Hill Band and others. Country in the Park begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Doors open at 9 a.m., and contests begin at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday. Tickets ($10) may still be available for the competition Friday, but Saturday and Sunday are sold out.

Catch some gliding stars
Just weeks after the Salt Lake Olympics captivated skating fans on the small screen, Target brings its Stars on Ice Tour to the Ice Palace in Tampa at 7:30 p.m. Friday. This year's tour features returning stars, including Olympic champions Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi, Katarina Witt and IliaKulik as well as four-time world champion Kurt Browning, and some new figure skating stars. Anjelika Krylova and Oleg Ovsiannikov, two-time world champions, and Jenni Meno and Todd Sand, three-time U.S. national pair champions, along with Steven Cousins, Denis Petrov and Lucinda Ruh, will round out the cast. Todd Eldredge of the United States has also joined the cast.
They'll be skating to music ranging from the Carpenters to Ram Jam, and from rock 'n' roll to the tango.
Tickets are $59, $46 and $36 at the Ice Palace Box Office or at Ticketmaster locations.
Can't get enough skating? You can catch the stars of the 2002 Olympics at the Ice Palace April 6 for the John Hancock Champions on Ice 2002 Tour, including Olympians Sarah Hughes, Michelle Kwan, and Sasha Cohen.
