Trevor White, former AAA chief, diesBy CRAIG BASSE, Times Obituaries Editor© St. Petersburg Times published April 16, 2002 ST. PETERSBURG -- Trevor A. White, retired former president and chief executive officer of the St. Petersburg AAA Motor Club, has died at 72. Mr. White, who retired in 1987 after a career in insurance and with national and regional bodies of the Automobile Association of America, died Friday (April 12, 2002) at home under hospice care. He had cancer, his wife said. Trevor Anthony White was born in Britain to Hugh White, a calligrapher and artist, and Dawn Laws White, a musical comedy actor. A pilot, flight instructor and writer, Mr. White came to the United States in 1949 after graduating from the University of London. He was named executive vice president and CEO of the St. Petersburg Motor Club 35 years later. He also was appointed president of the organization, now part of AAA Auto Club South. Mr. White came here from Alexandria, Va., where he was executive vice president of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. During the Korean War era, he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Survivors include his wife, Dolores; a daughter, Dawn Farmer, Washington state; two sons, Jonathan, Maryland, and Christopher, California; a stepson, Robert Linn, St. Petersburg; and a grandson, Brendan Farmer, Washington state.
