Kingston Trio comes to Rock Crusher
By JORGE SANCHEZ, Times Staff Writer Tonight's concert by the Kingston Trio at Rock Crusher Canyon tops the list of weekend activities. The world-famous singers, whose hits include Tom Dooley and Scotch and Soda, will perform after opening act Jim Teeter at the Rock Crusher Canyon amphitheater, 275 S Rock Crusher Road, Crystal River. The concert starts at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 and VIP tickets, which include a meal, stagefront seats and free parking, are $30. Parking is $5 for general admission. The parking lot opens at 4:30 p.m.; gates open at 5. VIP dinner served from 5 to 7 p.m. The weather forecast for today has a 60 percent chance of afternoon rain and thunderstorms, tapering off to about 20 percent later. The weather should be in the mid 80s, cooling off a bit after sunset. Rock Crusher Canyon amphitheater has a "rain or shine event" policy. This means that no ticket refunds or exchanges will be issued in case of rain. No umbrellas, video cameras, coolers or outside food or beverages (including water) are allowed. A musical brunch featuring Jon Semmes and the Florida Friends, along with a breakfast buffet, will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Garden Pavilion. Cost is $9.95. Other weekend events:MUSEUM MUSIC: Jesse Watson will host a "Jammin' With Jesse" concert at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday. The concert is a fundraiser for the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum in Inverness. Entertainers include Jimmy Brown, Sarah Bunnell, Reed Franklin, Jim and Sheila Harpin, Bobby Henwood, Jim Kelly, Anna Schultz, Tom Sjoberg and others. Ticket are $12 at the door. JAZZ JAM: The next jam session of the Citrus Jazz Society begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hampton Room of Andre's of Citrus Hills. The jam session will feature the group's regular musicians and some surprise special guests. A $5 donation is charged for nonmembers. Money collected goes primarily to the society's annual scholarship fund. Memberships are available at the door of each session and cost $25 for family or $17 for individuals.
