Suspected bomb at stadium just was a prop

TAMPA -- Suspecting a bomb, a slew of fire trucks, police and even the bomb squad sped to to Raymond James Stadium late Saturday night.

It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

What an anonymous caller feared was a bomb turned out to be a photographers prop.

"It turned out to be nothing," said Sgt. Craig Roberts with the Tampa police Department. "It was boxes wrapped up with electrical wire (that) turned out to be a photographer's stand that they used to take pictures."

The stadium, occupied by those attending an all-star high school football game, was not evacuated, police said.

"Because of the size of the boxes they knew it wouldn't really damage the stadium," Roberts said.

Nearby Himes Avenue was closed off, however, so that all of the emergency vehicles could get through.
