Genealogy: Many foreign records now available online
An offhand remark to my hairdresser many years ago paved the way for me to acquire substantial documentation on my Slovak lineage. I had been describing my difficulty in determining where in (then) Czechoslovakia I should write to obtain records when she suggested that I contact the Czech Embassy. I did, but I did not expect an answer. Amazingly, in a matter of weeks, I got a reply from the appropriate agency.
