It's moving time at Raymond James Financial's newly expanded St. Petersburg headquarters.
The financial services company just completed a nine-story office tower that adds 300,000 square feet and a 1,330-space parking garage to its headquarters complex in Carillon office park.
The first tenants, who began moving in over the weekend, are part of Raymond James' asset management group, which has been occupying leased space in the 100 Carillon building. The move will be gradual to minimize disruption to business. By mid-year, about 600 people will be working in the building, which has the capacity to hold 900 to 1,200 workers.
To qualify for $1.5-million in state and local tax breaks, Raymond James pledged the expansion will create 500 jobs over three years.
The company spent $31-million on the office tower and $6-million on the parking garage. The new building connects to another of Raymond James' office towers with a joint entryway.
