Once again, the Pinellas Education Foundation is saluting the district's top teachers through the Outstanding Educators Recognition program.

More than 100 teachers were nominated this year by other teachers, parents, students and community leaders. The district selected 25 semifinalists in November in five categories: Commitment to Improvement of the Profession, Creativity and Innovation, Inspiring Students to Performance at Higher Levels, Commitment to Children and Families, and Ambassador of the Profession. Last month, a team of judges narrowed the field to 14 finalists based on classroom visits and interviews.

On Jan. 29, five educators will be named category winners and one will be selected at a dinner hosted by the education foundation to represent the district in the state teacher of the year program.
