Day Tripper

Put some bite into your weekend

By MICHELLE JONES
Published March 26, 2004

Taste finger-licking, lip-smacking barbecue at the National Rib Fest and Classic Rock Concert on April 2-4 at the Westfield Shoppingtown Brandon.

Teams from all over the United States, including the World Championship-winning barbecue team Billy Bones, compete for prizes. Barbecue offered in sandwiches, rib samplers or half and whole racks of ribs, from $6 to $15.

With spicy, sweet, hot or mild barbecue cooked over black cherry or apple wood soaked in white wine, there should be something for most every taste.

Entertainers include the Dan McMillion Jazz Orchestra, Molly Hatchet, Blue Oyster Cult, Bad Company's Paul Rodgers, John Kay and Steppenwolf and Vince Neil of Motley Crue.

A Classic Car Show and a Harley-Davidson Show should entertain adults, and athletes can participate in the Bunny Run to benefit All Children's Hospital. Children will have their own KidzFest featuring theater, rock climbing, arcade games and a moon walk.

Food and beverages will be sold. No coolers, cameras, alcoholic beverages or pets allowed.
