Tampa Palms chooses Pro Coat to refurbish office

TAMPA PALMS - And the winner is Pro Coat.

The Tampa Palms Owners Association voted Tuesday to award the Land O'Lakes-based company a $25,000 contract to paint and refurbish its Compton Drive office.

Last month, the association had all but formally selected another company to do the job when it discovered that the contractor was not licensed. The association rescinded all of its original bids.

The building, which is used for community meetings and gatherings, is in desperate need of repair. The roof is sinking. The paint is chipping. And water damage is eating away at wood and other areas of the building.

Pro Coat president Dean Boddiford said it would take up to six weeks to complete all the repairs.

The company has previously done work at the Port of Tampa, among other places in the Tampa Bay area.
