USF THEATRE: Ancient Rome comes to the stage today through Sunday at the USF Theatre Centre, Studio 120, with the production of Peter Oswald's comedy The Golden Ass. The play is an adaptation of the Roman author Apulius' Second Century novel of the same name. It is the story of a man who, in attempting to magically transform himself into a bird, becomes a donkey instead and is stolen by thieves. His story continues with his search to become a man again and features the first known telling of the love story of Cupid and Psyche. Show times are 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Call (813) 974-2323. Schneckenburger is a fiddler, ukulele player, singer, songwriter and teacher who is a former Maine fiddle champion and a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She has played in Russia, Holland, Belgium, Canada and the United States. DiMario backs her up on the double bass, influencing the music with his classical and jazz training. They will be playing together with Acoustic Eidolon, a Colorado-based husband and wife duo consisting of Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire. Scott plays the guitjo, a two-neck instrument invented by Scott in order to give their music a distinctive, recognizable sound. Eidolon plays the upright cello.
