A Pasco County sheriff's deputy arrested a 33-year-old Dade City man Wednesday afternoon after a woman told the deputy the man dragged her down the road with his car before trying to run over her, according to a sheriff's report.
Deputies arrested Kenneth "Kenny" Floyd, 33, of 37475 Acorn Loop and charged him with domestic aggravated battery.
Dade City resident Chanel Cato, 29, told deputies she was at her father's home in Lacoochee when Floyd arrived threatening to kill her, the report said. Floyd told deputies he was there to return some of Cato's clothing. Cato and Floyd have a daughter together.
According to the report, Cato said that as she approached the driver's side window of Floyd's Volvo, he reached out with his left hand and grabbed the front of her shirt. She told the deputy Floyd then pressed the accelerator and dragged her along the side of the vehicle about 50 feet. She said that after she was released, Floyd turned the vehicle around and accelerated toward her, the complaint states. Cato avoided the vehicle and called the Sheriff's Office. She declined medical treatment.
According to the complaint, physical evidence supports Cato's statements. Deputies observed gravel on Cato's shirt and scratches on her face, back, chest and legs, sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said.
Floyd was taken to the Pasco County jail where he was still being held Thursday evening in lieu of $15,000 bail.
