Men charged after drag racing incidentBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published May 15, 2001 Two men were arrested Friday night after authorities say they were drag racing in the area of Elgin Boulevard and Barclay Avenue, on the eastern edge of Spring Hill. James M. Maye, 44, of 3444 Augustine Road in Spring Hill faces charges of drunken driving and reckless driving after his car and a truck were clocked going 105 mph just before midnight, a sheriff's report said. The driver of the truck, Achille Marasco, 27, of 1265 Overland Drive, Spring Hill, was charged with reckless driving. A breath test revealed that Maye had a blood-alcohol content of 0.123 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is the threshold at which Florida law presumes that someone is unable to safely drive a motor vehicle. Both men were taken to the Hernando County Jail and released Saturday. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
