LAND O'LAKES -- The 13 seniors accused of vandalizing Land O'Lakes High School earlier this month were denied in their initial appeal to be allowed to walk in graduation, said Superintendent John Long on Monday.

The male students, among other things, are accused of painting obscenities about a female staff member, breaking a wooden school mascot and wedging a car in the door of a school entrance.

Each received 10 days suspension as well as the punishment of not walking during graduation.

School principal Max Ramos denied their appeals to be able to walk.

On Monday, Long said he had received three further appeals from parents, but he expected those to be turned down as well.

"Unless they tell us some startling new piece of information," Long said. "I can't imagine my hearing officers overturning Mr. Ramos. I don't think that is going to happen." Long said the students could appeal to the School Board tonight if they still are not satisfied.
