It took some last-minute scrambling, but an alternate site has been found for the Sixth Annual Christmas in September Art and Craft Show presented by the Pilot Club of Crystal River.

The show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Plantation Inn convention center building on Fort Island Trail in Crystal River. The buildings are to the right of the main entrance. Works from 75 artists will be on display. Admission is free.

The show had to be moved from its original site at the Crystal River Armory because the armory was activated for military purposes following the terrorist attacks.

The craft show raised about $5,000 last year for the Pilot Club, which uses the money to fund local scholarships and civic improvements. Among the recipients are Alzheimer's research, the Boys and Girls Clubs, Hospice and CUB.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we are very pleased that the Plantation Inn was able to accommodate us on such short notice," said Kathy Grazio, club president.

As its name implies, the show will feature lots of personalized and handmade holiday decorations.

This year's event will have new raffles including two large Christmas wreaths, one decorated with Santa and one with an angel, said Grazio, who also chairs the craft show planning committee. Another new addition is a chance for a week's stay at a Cocoa Beach time share.

Because of the last-minute changes, the craft show will not have a classic car show or food vendors, she said.

"But we feel very strongly that this is the right way to go," Grazio said. "After the tragic week we've had, we need something enlightening."

Also this weekend, the 10th Annual Kelly Kraft Show will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Inverness, 206 Washington Ave.
