The edgeBy KEITH NIEBUHR
© St. Petersburg Times, OFFENSELecanto averages 373 rushing yards a game and has five solid runners. Springstead quarterback Brian Bolcar has thrown for 233 yards, but the Eagles haven't got much production elsewhere. EDGE: Lecanto. DEFENSELecanto allows 13.3 points a game, among the area's best averages. The Panthers looked particularly good in holding powerful Central to 13 points two weeks ago. Springstead played well against Hernando and Land O'Lakes, but the Eagles were torched by Crystal River for 42 points. EDGE: Lecanto. SPECIAL TEAMSThis is Lecanto's biggest weakness. Last week, the Panthers had a 7-yard punt. In Week 1, they missed both PATs and lost 13-12. Springstead's Mike Hibbert has three field goals and three PATs. Punter Everet Simmons has one kick of 50 yards. EDGE: Springstead. INTANGIBLESLecanto is 2-1 and easily could be 3-0. The Panthers are focused and confident. In wins against Central and Citrus, their running game couldn't be contained. Springstead started strong with a victory over Hernando, but was brought back to earth by Crystal River and Land O'Lakes. Lecanto has the talent and frame of mind to pull this one out. EDGE: Lecanto. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
