A week to visit the museum

It's Arts Alive Museum Week in St. Petersburg, a time for museums, art centers, theaters and other groups to exult in the city's cultural vitality. Marking the occasion are special events, free admissions and discounts at 27 locations from Friday through Nov. 11.
The Florida Holocaust Museum, Florida International Museum, Great Explorations, Museum of Fine Arts, Salvador Dali Museum and St. Petersburg Museum of History have discounted admissions for the period.
Special events include:
Friday, 5:30-10 p.m.: Get Downtown Street Festival Arts Alive Kickoff, Central Avenue from Second to Third streets. Free.
Saturday, all day: Family Arts Day. Free admission for children at all museums except Great Explorations, which is half price. Other events include a scavenger hunt at Dali Museum, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and open rehearsal of Nutcracker by St. Petersburg Festival Ballet at Mirror Lake Ballet Academy, 2-4 p.m.
Sunday, 1 p.m.: Gulliver's Travels, a musical for families produced by American Stage, performed at Sunken Gardens. (727) 551-3100.
Nov. 10, 5-9 p.m.: Jazz Finale Second Saturday Gallery Walk, Downtown Arts Association. Jazz groups in gallery areas concluding with a jazz jam at T.W. Curtis Studios/Galleries after 9 p.m., free. (727) 821-5824.
Arts Alive also includes regularly scheduled events, including Florida Orchestra concerts Saturday and Nov. 10, a new play (The Immigrant) at American Stage Nov. 9, a new show (Jacqueline Lamba) at the Dali Museum Nov. 8, and the St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading at Eckerd College Nov. 10 and 11.
