At the Palace: Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots
The Family Values Tour swings in to Tampa on Saturday to spread hard rock merriment. Who's on the bill?
There's Stone Temple Pilots, one of the last survivors of the early 1990s' grunge movement. The band's sound has evolved since those days. STP's latest, Shangra-Li Dee Da, ain't half bad and features a ballad called Bi-polar Bear -- how clever is that?
Also playing: cutie-pie band Linkin Park, above, which really turns on the edgier TRL contingent and inspires concert-goers to play a game of "spot the bassist." (You won't.)
Staind, whose members began as proteges of Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, is also performing.
Also on the bill: nu-metal meisters Static X and Deadsy.
The Family Values Tour begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ice Palace, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $42.50. (727) 898-2100 or (813) 287-8844.
