All the moussed-up boy bands in the world still can't hold a flickering lighter to the Beatles. If you don't believe it, check out Miramax Films' reissue of Richard Lester's milestone 1964 film, A Hard Day's Night. Part documentary, part improvised lunacy, this rambunctious piece of history can still make a viewer weep for its perfection and nostalgia. The story, as such, concerns John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr preparing for a London television appearance. It's everything distracting them that makes A Hard Day's Night so much fun, especially Wilfred Brambell as Paul McCartney's impish grandfather. The cheeky humor is worthy of the Marx Brothers, with Starr subbing for Harpo and Lennon giving Groucho a run for his funny. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah; the music's terrific, too. Now playing only at Veterans 24 in Tampa. A+
